| The Job Procal Analytics Ltd manufactures in situ emission monitoring and on-line analysis products, using UV and IR spectroscopic principles, which are sold worldwide. Two major developments are under way which include experimental calibration of analysers, studies of specialised applications, approvals and safety functions. This calls for the appointment of a chemist with strong quantitative skills.
Duties
- Conducting a series of gas tests on a prototype optical system, analysing reporting data
- Developing the calibration method and documentation
- Training in chemometric methods is available if required
- Management of the spectrophotometer/ chemical and spectra collections
- Applications work for the new product
- Operation of COSHH system and providing chemical safety information
- Future liaison with MCERTS and other approval schemes

Qualifications
An honours degree in Chemistry is required and relevant higher qualifications are an advantage. Knowledge of IR and UV spectroscopy is essential and of optics systems would be an advantage.
Experience
- Laboratory techniques
- Relevant postgraduate experience gained in industry and / or by means of a higher degree will be recognised.
- Measurement and data analysis skills are required, together with good written reporting skills.
